Each year the Waxahachie Symphony Association contacts music teachers throughout Ellis County to encourage High School Seniors to submit applications and audition for scholarships of up to $1,000, made available in part by the funding received through season subscriptions, corporate underwriting, and individual donations. We look for students who demonstrate excellence in either vocal or instrumental categories. The winners are invited to perform at the final performance of the season.
Fort Worth Symphony Student Concerts
Because of your support, the WSA is able to present two instructive as well as entertaining concerts for fifth grade children from area schools. You are investing in your community by helping to sustain this enriching program. The student concerts are scheduled each Fall in the Waxahachie Fine Arts Center.
Belles and Beaus Program
New Class of BELLES & BEAUS Forming
The Waxahachie Symphony Association is pleased to announce that they are forming a new class of Belles & Beaus for the 2015-2016 Season. This group consists of Juniors and Seniors in any high school or home school in Ellis County. Last year several from Global High joined the WHS students. It was a delightful mix.
This program is designed to give young adults the Life Skills they need to be successful in many areas: Money Management, Interviewing Skills, Manners, Correspondence, Dress Properly, and learning about our local government and Historic Downtown. They also attend or participate in plays, musicals, band concerts, and other Arts. Giving 6 hours of Volunteer work teaches them to give back to their community. They attend Waxahachie Symphony Association concerts where they are introduced. Their families receive a Family Season Ticket to all performances as part of the $325 Tuition and are strongly encouraged to attend. At the conclusion of the course, the Belles & Beaus are presented at a beautiful Gala, where the Belles dress in a white formal and the Beaus wear black and white tuxes. This is a beautiful, fun, delicious and delightful evening at the Civic Center.
We endeavor to bring world-class musicians to Waxahachie and make their performances available to the public at a nominal cost. Our Concert season usually consists of 4 or 5 concerts and runs from September to May.
Since grant funding covers only a small portion of our annual costs, we rely heavily on individual contributions and subscriptions to fund concerts. Individual subscriptions and contributions represent our single largest source of operating revenue. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and your contributions may be tax-deductible. We appreciate your continued generosity as we bring high caliber classical and jazz performances to Waxahachie and surrounding communities in 2015 - 2016.
Moreover, we invite you to contribute your time and effort to assist us in making the next season a reality. If you are interested in volunteering, or have questions about subscriptions, donations, or corporate underwriting, please contact Sherry Dyess at (972-938-1181).
